Pleats and apron |

While walking the pleats swing. And lots of times they swing beside the front apron and stay there, causing a rather strange look. Have any of you have
experience with this? And how could I avoid it? Straigtening it all the time with my right hand shouldn't be the solution.

I'm not sure, but maybe the kilt is just a bit too big. It looks like the pleats go "round the corner".
I'm sure someone with better knowledge will chime in

The photo is inconclusive, but I can't see a kilt pin anywhere... it may be that the additional weight on the front apron will prevent the pleats from
tucking under...

Yes, Robin has it right!
Normally the apron doesn't go very far over the pleats, should probably just meet it , if it does it is likely to catch and then look a bit strange... as your photo! The solution, much harder, losing a pleat might help, but would need to be done carefully, the apron can't really be made smaller as the pattern would be off centre... but i;m sure that something could be sorted, perahps if you posted the measuremnt of the front apron/the pleats/ both at waistband and fell line, and then your own measurements it might help to give me an idea of sizes. |

One solution might to sew down the offending pleat. This will keep it flush with the inner apron, and the outer apron will hang naturally over the sewn-down
pleat, making it invisible.

paulhenrydesign wrote: Robin is right indeed. The front apron goes over 4 pleats. That's about 3,5 inches. And indeed, it sometimes looks like the pleats go "around the corner". I did some measurement. In inches:
Pleats: 18 (top) about 33,5 (fell line) I ordered the kilt: waist 37. I have had it made to 35 recently, but the little pleatproblem has been there from the beginning on. seat 43 length 25 Maybe you can sort something out. Now that I look at it again it seems a bit like the kilt itself is a little bit too big and that the straps were put on in a way to meet my measurements. And JacobT: Great advice! If nothing else helps I just might go for that. Simple but good solution to the problem I think. And P1M: I'll start today! ![]() ![]()
