Also nice to see what a "featured topic" (moderator and admins only) does...the featured topics will show on top of the forum main page, on top of the forum section and on the community profile. No excuse to miss a featured topic from now on

I fiddled a bit with html to make the header text look better....a larger font and centered...I also changed the font to Papyrus, but this will only show to
those who have the font on their machine. Others will see a standard font.

I have winXP (and Words and Frontpage)...no problems.
Michelle sees the standard font on her laptop, but still centered and large. |

WinXP Pro 5.1.2600 SP2 Build 2600 with Firefox 2.0.0.9 : only a larger font, but not centered. The same with IE 7.0.5730.11.

I can see the Papyrus - Windows Vista (and Goodness knows what else, because I don't!). Looking good, Robin.
By the way, I can see the 'Featured Topic' also, and I am neither a Moderator nor Admin. Should I be able to?
Take care,

Yes Hamish, I wasn't clear. Making a topic "featured" is an admin/mod action...the result is for all to see.

Papyrus is visible on my Mac.
Personally, I find the headings far too big, meaning that every time I look for a thread or message, I have to scroll down past the same thing over and over. The headings are important on a web site to get newcomers interested, perhaps, but, once the newcomers are hooked, it becomes clutter. We just want to get to the interesting reading matter. The "new poll", "new topic", "add reply" buttons are unnecessarily large an out of place at the top of the page. Could they and the ads not be placed at the bottom? Martin (critical as ever!) |

We all see websites and forums differently...depends on screen size and resolution settings.
A 17" screen with 1280x1024 is more or less standard now....I checked the forum on several other machines and it looks good and in proportion on most. Things can look large on small screens and low resolution screens though. Only one advertisement per forum...our sponsors pay for the expenses and the members benefit from discounts, special offers and prize draws. Our sponsors deserve a decent place...the banners will stay on top. |

I reduced the size of the header text a bit.

But is it necessary to have two lines of description, both "
and " Kilt ForumThis is the forum for kilt wearers and for those who love Scotland. Welcome! ""kilt" x 4, "forum" x 3... I think that by the time one reaches this page, one probably knows what it's all about. No? Point taken for the sponsor ads. Martin, using a very portable 30-cm screen. ps: this has not come out the way I intended d for those who love Scotland. Welcome!
